World Triathlon Corp brand portfolio expands

World Triathlon Corporation (WTC), owner of the Ironman, Ironman 70.3 and Iron Girl brands, is bringing kids on board with the 2009 IronKids race series.

In 2009, IronKids, as the newest member of the WTC family, will be launched as an 8-city youth triathlon series culminating with a national championship. WTC re-acquired IronKids from the Sara Lee Corporation, owner of the event series for more than a decade.

IronKids itself has introduced some of the sport’s greats with past participants including Olympian, Hunter Kemper, and seven-time Tour de France winner, Lance Armstrong.

The IronKids mission is to ‘inspire and motivate youth through the sport to lead an active, positive and healthy lifestyle’. The national event series, targeting children ages six to 14 years old, will offer an interactive weekend experience for the entire family.

WTC will release full event details on the 2009 IronKids National Event Series in the coming weeks. Upcoming information will also be posted to IronKids official Web site, www.ironkids.com.
