Blue Competition Cycles has officially launched in the UK through its distribution partner Multisport Distribution Limited. A full range of Blue models are being released – from road, time trial/triathlon, to MTB and cyclocross. In launching Blue in the UK, Multisport Distribution has followed the lead set in the US by delivering Blue’s unique ‘value added’ proposition. This provides every customer who buys a Triad bike a free wind tunnel aero fit.
As there are a handful of bike manufacturers claiming to be builders of the fastest bike in the world, Blue recognises that up to 85% of the drag is the rider. In partnership with wind tunnel experts Drag-2-Zero, Blue can provide the customer with a unique experience. This assists the rider in achieving the most comfortable aerodynamic position unique to their body shape and size.
Based in Norcross, Georgia (USA), Blue Competition Cycles was founded in 2004 by a company with roots in engineering scuba equipment. The company was born from its owners’ passion for cycling, and as such became involved coaching riders and founding a women’s team (Scuba/Genesis).
Having difficulty finding a suitable bike sponsor, they felt they could satisfy a need in the market for a range of high performance bikes that could also be priced for accessibility to the average cyclist. Design, engineering, sales and marketing are all headquartered in the US. While frame construction is in Asia, assembly is completed in Georgia.
The design ethos of the company is to provide high quality carbon and alloy cycles across the full product range. The carbon frames use the same quality carbon in each bike, whether purchasing a Triad TT bike or the entry RD1 road bike.
Blue is the official bike of USA Triathlon (USAT) and its bikes are ridden by world class athletes such as Andreas Raelert (Ironman Arizona/Monaco 70.3 champion), Brent McMahon (ITU athlete and New Orleans Ironman 70.3 champion) and USA star triathlete Sarah Haskins. Blue also sponsors US Cyclo Crosser Jonathan Page and has worked in conjunction with him to develop the Norcross Carbon Cross bike due for release later this year.
Blue Competition Cycles’ Global Marketing Manager Chance Regina, stated, "Our entry into the UK market is very exciting for the development of our organisation; the growth in triathlon and cycling in general in the UK is staggering. By partnering with Multisport Distribution we are able to continue the delivery of innovative promotions such as the free wind tunnel aero fit to compliment our new range of Bikes planned for 2010, ensuring we deliver the full Blue experience to the UK market."
The full range of Blue products will available in specialist retailers in the UK from late August 2009.
