USA Triathlon teams up with CEO Challenges in 2009

USA Triathlon (USAT) has teamed up with CEO Challenges, a leading organiser of sports competitions for chief executives, for the third successive year. The partnership gives business leaders the opportunity to compete at the highest level, with the 2009 CEO Challenges World Championship taking place at the USAT Nationals in August.

This year’s event – taking place at the USAT Age Group National Championship in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on 22 August 2009 – will not only feature top US competitors, but athletes from all over the globe fighting for the title of World’s Fittest CEO!

"In previous years we have awarded the title of World’s Fittest CEO at the Hawaii Ironman World Championship," said Ted Kennedy, president of CEO Challenges. "However, many very fit, very fast CEOs find it impossible to fit a full Ironman into their work, travel, and family schedules. As a result, we are pleased to offer the opportunity for the best CEO triathletes in the world to join us in August and compete to see who is the best, and therefore, fittest of all."

Competitors for the CEO Challenge Worlds must win their age group at a previous CEO Triathlon Challenge event or finish an Olympic distance triathlon in under 2:30 to be invited to take part.

Qualifiers for the CEO Triathlon World Championship will be treated to first class accommodation at the host hotel on the University of Alabama campus, a special ‘Dinner with the Pros’, full logistics support including special race check-in, and many opportunities to get to know fellow CEOs that share a passion for business and triathlon. All proceeds will benefit the Challenged Athletes Foundation charity.

An added benefit for the competitors is the chance to earn a spot at the 2010 ITU Age Group World Championship in Budapest, Hungary. One spot each will be reserved for the top male finisher aged 44-and-under, the top male finisher aged 45-and-over, and the top finishing female CEO.
