South Carolina-based sports apparel company, Epix Gear, is launching its new line of high-tech performance tri apparel at Interbike 2010 (22-24 September).
The featured product will be the new Airflow + line with coldblack technology. Epix is one of the first companies on the market to offer triathlon apparel with coldblack technology. Coldblack is claimed to reduce fatigue and improve athletic performance by reflecting 80% of heat rays, even when applied to dark fabrics which normally absorb heat. It also offers a minimum UPF 30+ protection against harmful ultraviolet rays.
What is more, coldblack treatment is bluesign compliant, therefore containing no components or processes hazardous to people or the environment. The coldblack treatment will not wash out in regular household laundry or in prolonged use, and the lycra with coldblack is chlorine-resistant. Coldblack treatment also extends the life of the lycra by around 20%.
Epix will also feature another material innovation for 2011: Cotton-LycTM. This material provides the softness and comfort of cotton, combined with the stretch-ability and moisture-control properties of lycra.
This means that, like cotton, the fabric is exceptionally soft and non-abrasive, but unlike cotton, does not retain moisture and dries just as quickly as normal lycra fabric. These unique properties make it an excellent fabric for triathlon. In addition, Cotton-LycTM is chlorine-resistant.
Epix has also made numerous improvements to its 2010 Airflow product line. Visitors to Interbike Las Vegas can experience all of the company’s new products at the Epix booth # 427.
