Entries are closing today, 26 November 2010, for the FNB (First National Bank) Desert Triathlon in Namibia, which will take place in Swakopmund on 4 December 2010.
Event organiser, OTB Sport, said the 2010 event had a strong field, with 90 people entered to compete in the team event and over 60 in the individual event category. The triathlon attracts both locals and internationals.
An OTB Sport race organiser said, “We are very glad to see that triathlon is now a stable and fast growing sport. The Mariental triathlon recorded a huge growth in entries, the FNB Desert triathlon will have even more triathletes participating.”
First National Bank of Namibia, as headline sponsor, has shown its commitment with a sponsorship advance of N$40 000 (US$6,000). Puma is on board as the technical sponsor of the event. OTB Sport thanked FNB along with Puma for their sponsorship.
The entry fee for individuals in the sprint and standard distance is N$90 (US$13). The first 100 entrants will receive a Puma running shirt and the following 80 entrants a Puma gymsack.
The ultra distance entry is priced at N$170 (US$25) and includes a Puma shirt and bag.
Prizes are valued at N$30,000 (US$4,400), with N$10,000 (US$1,500) in cash prizes.
