Created and organized by the founders of the Miami International Triathlon (MIT), the new 2575 Triathlon Series ‘holds the same high standards of quality and organization for the ultimate triathlon racing experience.’
2575 Series
On 4 December 2011, the City of Miami Marine Stadium in Key Biscayne, Miami, Florida, is the starting point for a new and expanding series; and with beautiful swim, bike and run courses, the inaugural race shows off some of the amazing views the city of Miami can provide.
The 2575 Triathlon Series introduces a new approach to the sport of triathlon. Along the same lines as the 5150 series, unveiled by World Triathlon Corp (WTC) back in October 2010, the number 2575 represents the distance raced by athletes in a sprint triathlon (0.75K swim, 20K bike, 5K run).
Although the new 2575 series is organised by Miami Tri Events, which puts on the Miami International Triathlon and Rohto Ironman 70.3 Miami events, amongst others, this new series of races is a separate initiative from the Olympic/International 5150 series from WTC.
The new 2575 series encourages athletes to focus not solely on completing the race, but on their speed. Athletes are now faced with the challenge: ‘Are you the fastest?’
Calling sprint tri race directors!
The 2575 Series was created by the group of experienced triathlon producers at Miami Tri Events (MTE) who saw the need for a network of events serving race directors. For race directors, the advantages of joining the 2575 Triathlon Series are clear; they will enjoy the benefit of having an experienced team at their disposal, as well as having continuous advertising of their event in print and on the web.
Wilber Anderson, Race Director at MTE told triathlonbusiness that “The 2575 Series concept offers a number of benefits for all race directors – for those who are already established, or those that are looking to make the leap and organise their first Sprint triathlon.”
He added, “We have a huge database and offer a network to get each event truly established. We are seeing high levels of interest already, as we put together this family of events; and we encourage other race directors to get in touch to find out about this exciting new series.”
As momentum in the series builds, it is envisaged that events joining the 2575 family will gain popularity as they become qualifiers for the 2575 Triathlon World Championship, which will take place each year in December in Miami, Florida. For first time race directors, the support provided by this system should prove invaluable as MTE’s skilled team will offer guidance and assistance when needed.
The creators of the 2575 Series understand that race directors have many things to tend to in order to make their events a success. Therefore, they have created a method to ease that process while allowing race directors to have full control over their races. This new concept aims to unite race directors in ways that benefit all parties involved.
In addition, by uniting numerous sprint triathlon events, the 2575 Series taps into the widest possible audience, attracting first-time triathletes pursuing a feasible initial goal, as well as seasoned professionals seeking to prove that they are the fastest in the sport. As the 2575 slogan says, the aim is for all competitors to ‘feel the rush!’
MTE’s Anderson reiterated that the main purpose of the new 2575 Series is to “Help race directors organize quality multi-sport events, by connecting them to a network that provides them greater exposure and support. It gives race directors freedom to focus on making their race a unique experience for athletes and spectators while an experienced team takes care of advertising, registrations and other race director concerns. This results in high quality races that will receive national and international attention.”
Charity support
The 2575 Triathlon Series is also being created to bring positive change to local communities. Race directors will be encouraged to choose a charitable entity and support the charity by bringing awareness and providing athletes with an opportunity to donate and make a difference.
For this year’s 2575 Triathlon Miami, The Window to the Heavens (La Ventana de los Cielos) charity, which helps children with disabilities and special needs in their development, will receive a portion of all registrations, as well as athlete donations.
Going forwards, 2575 Series race directors can choose to join in donating to this charitable entity or choose their own.
Expo
Taking place in early December 2011, on the Saturday and Sunday before the inaugural 2575 race at the City of Miami Marine Stadium, the Miami 2575 Expo is expected to attract over 3,000 athletes and sport enthusiasts. A mix of 20+ exhibitors will be on hand to make sure that athletes find something of interest – from triathlon products to fitness clubs. Kids’ attractions, food & refreshments will also be available throughout the day.
The 2575 Triathlon Series will make its debut on 4 December 2011 at the unique Marine Stadium in Miami, Florida.
