Interbike attendees will have plenty of opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of triathlon thanks to special VIP access to the Ironman World Championship 70.3 the day before Interbike begins and an expansive Tri Zone at the Interbike expo itself.
A new 2011 partnership with Ironman gives attendees a chance to see the Ironman 70.3 event on Sunday 10 September in nearby Henderson, Nevada. Interbike visitors will be able to access a special viewing area at the bike-to-run transition, with a TV screen broadcasting live coverage from the course.
“Triathlon has always been a key driver of technology in the cycling world and Ironman triathletes are at the top end of the early adopters,” said John Duke, Ironman Vice President of Global Sales and Media. “It’s a natural fit for Ironman and Interbike to work together to expose as many bike dealers as possible to this great market.”
At the Interbike International Bicycle Expo, the Tri Zone will feature triathlon-specific products, panels and educational seminars – including sessions on the specifics of fit and geometry related to tri bikes by Dan Empfield of slowtwitch.com — in the Tri Learning Center, a 50-seat presentation area in the zone.
Presented in partnership with LAVA Magazine and industry association Triathlon America, the Tri Zone at Interbike will function as a gathering place and information centre for one of the fastest growing sports in America and a booming corner of the cycling industry.
“Triathlon participation continues to grow at an unbelievable pace, and it’s something our retailers and exhibitors want to learn more about and become more involved with to grow their business,” said Pat Hus, Interbike’s new Managing Director.
“The Tri Zone will not only showcase great products, but provide valuable information and insight through panels and seminars that feature top-tier athletes, media and manufacturers from the triathlon space.”
“Triathlon America is excited about working with our founding partners at LAVA to bring TriZone at Interbike to the industry,” said Jack Caress, Triathlon America President and CEO. “We look forward to the continued expansion of the triathlon industry into Interbike and our involvement in bringing the business of triathlon to a larger industry audience.”
The Tri Zone is located adjacent to the Health+Fitness Business Expo on the street-level floor in the Sands Expo Center.
The Interbike OutDoor Demo begins the day after the Ironman World Championship 70.3 in Bootleg Canyon, running from 12-13 September. The Interbike International Bicycle Expo follows from 14-16 September at the Sands.
Now in its 30th year, Interbike is the largest cycling expo in North America, with 1,100 cycling-related exhibiting brands and close to 12,000 retailer buyers expected to attend.
