This week, when registration opened at 09:00, within 1 minute the site had received more than 7,000 hits. Registration closed in roughly three and a half hours. The 2012 event will see more than 2,400 female endurance athletes participate in a 0.62 mile swim, 17.5 mile bike, 3.3 mile run on 19 August 2012 at Centennial Lake Park in Columbia, Maryland.
“We are excited and honoured to have the opportunity to produce our 7th annual Athleta Iron Girl Columbia Triathlon in 2012,” said Rob Vigorito, President of TriColumbia. “Every year it is inspiring to see thousands of empowered Iron Girl competitors give it their all at this unique and special event.”
In its 7th year, the 2012 Athleta Iron Girl Columbia Triathlon will be the largest event of its kind. This inspirational all women’s event is about empowering women toward a healthy lifestyle and providing a platform whereby women support one another, as they journey toward the finish line. Currently, there are 14 Iron Girl events scheduled to take place in 2012 throughout the US, including events in Lake Las Vegas, Atlanta, Boulder, Seattle and Lake Tahoe.
