The GT-2000 series from ASICS is now ‘entering its 17th year of existence’, and the run shoe brand’s new GT-2170 is fresh off the success of the GT-2160. According to ASICS, the updated GT-2170 remains a go-to shoe for runners who need a comfortable, stable ride.
Weight reduction is a key trait for the 2012 model. The men’s shoe (in a US size 9) weighs in at 11.4oz (323.2g). The women’s shoe in size 7 is 9.3oz (263.7g).
The 2012 GT-2170 also features a large one piece gel heel to optimise cushioning. This is combined with a full length ‘guidance line’ from the heel to forefoot to complement the shoe’s overall cushioning.
