Blue Competition Cycles expands in South West US region

Blue Competition Cycles Inc, continuing its efforts to generate more exposure and sales throughout the US, has added experienced sales representative Michael Lax to its staff for the South West US region.

Lax brings to Blue more than a decade of experience in the bicycle industry and will be responsible for sales representation in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana, an area of the country offering a significant growth opportunity for the Norcross, Georgia-based company.

“Having watched Blue grow into a major player in the cycling and triathlon industry over the past several years, I’m excited to join their team and help continue to grow their success,” said Lax, based in cycling-friendly Austin, Texas.

With the addition of Lax, who has a variety of sales experience with cycling and multisport companies including Triggerpoint Performance Therapy Products, American Classic wheels and accessories, and 2XU triathlon apparel, Blue has increased its 2012 US sales representative staff to 13, more than double from just two years ago.

“The southwest US market has typically been a difficult area of the country for us to gain exposure,” said Chance Regina, Blue’s National Sales Manager. “Adding somebody with Michael’s experience and contacts will help us make in-roads into an area with tremendous growth potential.”

Over the past year, Blue has been a producing sponsor of the Southlake, Texas-based Tri4Him triathlon team. The team includes elite athletes Matthew Russell (3rd American finisher at the 2011 Ironman World Championships) and Nick Waninger (2nd American finisher at 2001 Ironman Arizona).

Lax joins Blue less than a month after the company also added experienced sales representative Wes Spruell to its staff for the southeast US region, which includes Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee and North and South Carolina.
