From Cape Town, to Dubai, Lake Oconee in the US, Sardinia in Italy, and back to South Africa for a Sun City race, the global ELEVEN triathlon race circuit is ramping up its activity.
Europe’s first Olympic non-drafting triathlon of the new ELEVEN triathlon series will be held in Villasimius, Sardinia on June 4th this year. This follows the inaugural event – ELEVEN Lake Oconee, USA on May 21-22.
The ELEVEN Sardinia 2011 competition will cover the standard Olympic/International race distances: the 1.5K swim will consist of two triangular 750m laps at sea. This will be followed by a single bike lap of 40K and a 10K run consisting of two laps.
In addition to an individual race in Sardinia, there will also be a team relay race open to men, women and mixed teams.
The ELEVEN triathlon series is the brainchild of 11global, which has a long-term mission to provide an annual international Olympic-distance triathlon series that will culminate in age-group and relay team champions.
According to the series organisers, ‘We strive to recalibrate the Olympic-distance experience and have carefully designed and planned each triathlon. Locations with superb landscapes and environmental conditions have been selected to deliver the ultimate triathlon experience.’
Additional triathlons will be added to the schedule (expected to total 11!) once these are finalised.
