Formello Duathlon kick-starts the 2011 Forhans Cup in Italy

The Formello Duathlon, taking place on Sunday 6 March, will start the 2011 edition of the Forhans Cup in Italy.

The town of Lazio will host the first leg of the Forhans Cup circuit, which is becoming increasingly important in spreading the word about triathlon in Italy.

Elite athletes such as Alice Capone (duathlon specialist), Fabrizio Baralla (Xterra competitor), Luca De Paolis, Vanessa Schlemmer and Sara and Luca Desideri are expected to be at starting line of the the Formello Duathlon, along with hundreds of fans from all over Lazio and the neighbouring region.

The duathlon’s route will be the same as in previous editions, characterised by continuous rolling hills, making it a technical although shorter race (4K run – 12K bike – 2K run).

The Forhans Cup circuit, organised by Team Forhans, aims to gather together some of the most beautiful triathlon and duathlon races in central Italy across various distances.

New developments in 2011 include the addition of a half ironman (scheduled for July in Lago del Salto); and an Xterra off-road triathlon to be held in Terni in May.

“The circuit will see the participation of professional athletes and amateurs from all over Italy,” said Gianluca Calfapietra, President of the Forhans Team.

“With established routes, though they can be technically challenging, they are still available to everyone, including those who are entering the world of multisport for the first time.”
