The Blenheim Triathlon has secured General Electric (GE) as the title sponsor of this year’s event. Now in its seventh year, the annual Blenheim Triathlon will take place over the weekend of 4-5 June 2011 at Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire.
5,500 participants will take place in what is the UK’s second largest triathlon after the London Triathlon.
IMG Challenger World, organisers of the event, brokered the deal with the US multinational.
James Morrison, Sponsorship Manager of IMG Challenger World, said “IMG is delighted to welcome GE on board as title sponsor of the GE Blenheim Triathlon. Their expertise and support continues to drive forward this fast growing and exciting sport and the opportunities to participate within it.
“The partnership will build on the already excellent competitor experience that Blenheim Palace provides and further enhance the event’s stature.”
Already an elite partner of the British Triathlon Federation, GE’s title sponsorship agreement, the value of which has not been disclosed, further strengthens the company’s relationship with triathlon in the run up to the London 2012 Olympics.
Mark Elborne, President and CEO of GE UK, added “GE is delighted to be the title sponsor of one of the showpiece triathlons of the year. We believe British triathlon is a great fit for GE and we are confident that our support could potentially make a real impact on Team GB’s gold medal prospects in 2012.
“I am sure that the Blenheim Palace course will test every competitor taking part on the day, and we wish them all the best of luck.”
