Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Triathlon mobile app

The Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Triathlon and Best Buy Mobile, the mobile specialty retail unit of Best Buy, have launched a new mobile app that allows friends, family and spectators to track individual triathletes during the Sunday 25 September event. The app also provides event information related to parking, best locations to watch the race, course maps, competitor updates and results.

The Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Triathlon app can be downloaded free for Android and iPhones at www.bestbuymobile.com/race.

“Thanks to Best Buy Mobile, after downloading the app, spectators, family and friends can track their favourite competitor’s progress throughout the competition,” said Race Director Jack Caress. “Simply by touching the ‘Tracking’ icon and entering a bib number, you’ll be able to see the location of the triathlete as of the last timing mat they passed over and their time.”

Race results including the splits and transition times of participants will be available at the touch of a button, powered by the ‘RR:360 results engine’ from RaceResults 360 LLC.

The app will give competitors and spectators information on key locations, such as Friday and Saturday’s Thrive! Health & Fitness Expo; the Venice Beach swim start, Olympic Blvd., Transition 2, the Disney Concert Hall and the finish line and party at L.A. LIVE! Nokia Plaza. Competitors can also review the event updates that have been sent out, as well as refresh their memory on the available shuttle service servicing the point-to-point course.

Those who don’t have a smartphone or wish to follow favourite competitors online from a computer, can log on at: http://bit.ly/rtB4LR.

The Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Triathlon presented by Herbalife began in 2000 and has become the West Coast’s premier triathlon. Recognized as one of the top destination triathlons in the US, the event is the sixth of seven events in the Race to the Toyota Cup in the 2011 Life Time Triathlon Series.

This year’s LA field, comprised of recreational, elite amateur and professional triathletes, is made up of competitors from 30 states, plus the District of Columbia, and 11 countries, and features a pro purse of US$40,000.
