Local sponsors boost Tri at the Grove

The new Tri at the Grove triathlon in Oregon has received significant local sponsorship. Rolf Prima, the premier bicycle wheel manufacturer based in Eugene, Oregon, signed up in March as the headline sponsor at the Tri at the Grove. The event features both Sprint and Olympic distance triathlon races for individuals and relay teams on 24 July at Cottage Grove Lake, located 30 minutes south of Eugene.

A number of local companies have now joined with title sponsor Rolf Prima in supporting this event. Lithia Nissan of Eugene, Oakshire Brewing, Cottage Grove Community Hospital, Hutch’s Bicycles, Eugene Running Company, The Multisport Advantage, SportHill, Pacific Yurts, Wildish Companies, Therapeutic Associates, Village Green Resort, Verve Northwest Marketing, Cottage Grove Chamber of Commerce, and others have contributed time and resources to ensure the race becomes an annual must-do event.

Event organiser dark30 sports of Eugene is advising anyone interested in competing in the Tri at the Grove to register soon, as the race is filling quickly. Dark30 sports is also looking for local residents interesting in volunteering at the race.

An added boost for the event’s profile is that professional triathlete Kate Bevilaqua of Perth, Australia, is visiting Cottage Grove to race in the Rolf Prima Tri at the Grove. Bevilaqua won Ironman Korea this past weekend and is going to be in Oregon for the Rolf Prima-sponsored event. Local pro triathlete Jesse Thomas, 2011 Wildflower triathlon champion, will also be in Cottage Grove for the race. Additional pro triathletes are also expected to compete. They will be joining experienced triathletes and many who are doing their first triathlon.

“When we started talking with the local organisers to sponsor the Tri at the Grove,” said Rolf Prima owner, Brian Roddy, “we knew this would be an opportunity to put on a great home-grown race. It is a perfect course – great for people new to triathlon and for experienced triathletes.”
