The finalised details for the appointment of Technical Officials to the London 2012 Olympic Games have now been confirmed by LOCOG (London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games) and the International Triathlon Union (ITU). ITU will be appointing 28 Technical Officials (TOs) along with two reserves. National Federations are able to nominate a maximum of three TOs and British Triathlon is entitled to nominate 10.
The application process for British Triathlon Officials will open on 1 December 2011 and all eligible officials, as determined by ITU, are invited to apply by completing the relevant application form and returning to British Triathlon by 09:00 GMT on Monday 16 January 2012. Following this, the list of applicants will be forwarded to LOCOG and ITU for comment before a British Triathlon representative and LOCOG determine the Technical Officials to be submitted to the ITU.
The ITU Technical Committee and the Technical Delegates will make all final decisions regarding the allocation of TOs to the event and these are to be confirmed by the ITU Executive Board.
Further details about qualifying criteria and key dates in the allocation of officials to the London 2012 Olympic Games, can be found on the British Triathlon website.
