Skirt Sports, inventor of the running skirt and known for innovative, edgy prints, will introduce three new print designs and new products in its athletic and casual categories at the Summer Outdoor Retailer event.
According to Skirt Sports its new ‘Pow’ and ‘Alta Moda’ designs reflect current 2012 trends as interpreted through a 1970s lens. Pow draws inspiration from superhero comics (think ‘Splat’ or ‘Bam’ on the 70’s TV show Batman) with bright colours and bold design splashes. Alta Moda (or ‘high fashion’ in French) is a classic black and white print that pays homage to kitschy 1970s wallpaper and conceals a Skirt Sports logo within its bold design.
Both original Skirt Sports designs were created by Keli Visocky, designer and developer for the company.
Another new print for Spring/Summer 2012 comes from renowned designer Jackie McFee. ‘Hot Chocolate’ has been popularized on paper and office products, accessories and home furnishings, but Skirt Sports has brought this well-known print into apparel with a fresh new interpretation.
These prints join the Kendall Kollection by Skirt Sports and Jackie McFee. The popular Kendall line, introduced in 2010, sports a design created especially for Jackie’s young cousin, Kendall who was diagnosed with cancer at the age of three. A portion of proceeds benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. All prints are available across the Skirt Sports line, including tops and bottoms.
Female athletes tackle multiple sports today, and they also wear athletically-inspired clothing in their daily lives. At Outdoor Retailer, Skirt Sports will introduce several new technical styles that work for multiple sports. The Adventure Girl Skirt with multiple pockets and a resilient, eco-friendly fabric is for outdoor wear while climbing or running, and the Fearless Tank moves seamlessly from fitness to water sports.
Skirt Sports also introduces new styles in the category the brand invented, running skirts. The new Twilight Gym Ultra Skirt in pink has a ‘Hot Chocolate’ side piece; and the Marathon Chick Skirt is the newest and shortest style for those who possess super confidence and run long distances. These join this versatile skirt line that includes 11 additional athletic styles, each with distinctive lengths and features.
Other styles are suitable for athletic pursuits that transition into daily activities. Two new dresses, Serendipity with a jersey fabric and a relaxed body fit (for yoga, or a ‘coffee date’), and Sexy Back with a corset-inspired bust and fashionable Alta Moda side panels (for biking, or ‘dinner on the town’), complement a perennial favourite, the Wonder Girl Dress (now in prints Alta Moda and Hot Chocolate). For those who prefer a longer style, the new Evermore Capris allows women to move from running or yoga into afternoon errands.
The new collection from Skirt Sports will be shown at Summer Outdoor Retailer, Booth #38172, and will be available at retail outlets and online beginning in spring 2012.
