Triathlon New Zealand (Tri NZ), the sport’s national governing body in the country, is seeking a Chief Executive Officer who can continue to guide and enhance the future performance of triathlon leading up to the London Olympics in 2012 and beyond.
In tandem with this, the new CEO should ensure that Tri NZ’s objectives for growing participation and the profile of triathlon are delivered.
The latest recruitment drive follows the departure of former Tri NZ CEO Dave Beeche, who recently transitioned from his role of five years at the organisation to a new role as CEO of Triathlon World Champs 2012.
Tri NZ is in very good heart structurally and financially, as well as being respected by its commercial partners as providing a ‘win-win relationship’. According to the organisation, the foundations are set for taking the sport and the organisation to the next level of achievement.
Tri NZ seeks an outstanding individual with the following skills/experience:
Broad general management, including staff performance and development and prudent financial management
Track record of enhanced relationship/alliance building with key stakeholders, including commercial partners; and exploring alternative, sustainable revenue streams
Leadership experience in marketing, communications, brand positioning, profile building and sponsorship
Strong commercial acumen and exceptional communication and presentation skills; with ability to network, influence, negotiate, build trust and understand value
A focus on driving execution to translate strategy into operational reality
Central to the role will be meeting Tri NZ’s vision to fulfil its participation potential, delivered through increased community participation as well exemplary international results.
Whilst triathlon experience is not essential, an affinity to and passion for sport is a must. The role is based in Auckland.
