VAVi Sport & Social Club (VAVi), San Diego’s premier coordinator of social events, charity opportunities and adult sports leagues, has announced the first annual Ridiculous Obstacle Challenge (ROC) Race.
The ROC takes place at the Del Mar Race Track and Fairgrounds on 21 May 2011.
Inspired by television’s popular obstacle course game shows, the 5K race will feature outrageous and challenging obstacles providing fun and entertainment for both competitors and spectators.
VAVi was created in 2002 with 30 people playing volleyball on the beaches of San Diego and is now the most sought-out adult sports league and social networking company on the US west coast with over 50,000 members. VAVi brings young professionals together through a variety of sports leagues, social events, tournaments, trips and volunteer opportunities.
“After watching some of the most ridiculous game shows like Wipe Out, MXC or Double Dare, we wanted to give the San Diego community the opportunity to take part in their own outrageous obstacle course game show,” said Latane Meade, President of VAVi.
“With the incredible popularity of crazy events and races we have hosted in the past including the Del Mar Mud Run, we are excited to introduce the craziest of them all: the ROC Race.”
The 5K ROC Race will challenge individuals and teams to conquer more than 20 outrageous obstacles including foam climbs, swinging ropes over water, ball hill climbs, swinging boulders, cargo nets, harassing role players, inflatable slides and more.
Additionally, participants and spectators will enjoy the ROC Fest after party featuring:
• Live music and DJ’s
• One free beer or non-alcoholic beverage for ROC Race participants
• Food vendors
• Vendor Village showcasing numerous local businesses
Registration options include individual competitors, four-person teams and unlimited team sign-ups (for groups of five or more). Awards will be given out in each category for best ROC Race times and best costumes worn for the race.
