Following its recent launch into the UK, Xterra Wetsuits is continuing its expansion path with more sponsorships of clubs and events in its key markets of North America and Europe.
Based in the South West of the UK, the PAC (Portishead and Clevedon) Tri Club has just tied up with Xterra Wetsuits, with the US wetsuit brand becoming the club’s official wetsuit sponsor.
Back in January, we reported on a flurry of tie-ups for Xterra Wetsuits – and sponsorships clearly remain a key component of the company’s marketing mix.
As with the PAC Tri Club in the UK, Xterra Wetsuits works closely with triathlon clubs in the US. The National High School Triathlon Association (NHStri) based in Glen Rock, New Jersey, is a recent sponsor partner. As a platinum sponsor NHStri members can benefit from discounts on wetsuit purchases.
Event tie-ups are another key area of focus. Xterra Wetsuits was a sponsor of the recent USA Ultra Triathlon Florida Double Iron event. The gruelling Florida Double Iron triathlon took place on 4-6 March 2011 – and is USA Triathlon (USAT) and IUTA (International Ultra Triathlon Association) sanctioned.
Also in the US, a notably high-profile race is the Nation’s Triathlon, ‘to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’, which became the largest international distance triathlon event in the US in 2010. XTERRA Wetsuits is on board here as the official wetsuit sponsor for 2011.
Meanwhile, in the beautiful Lake Monticello area of the US, Xterra Wetsuits is the official wetsuit sponsor of the Monticelloman Triathlon.
Organised by Charlottesville Multisports, and with 2011 the first year of the race, Monticelloman will be an Olympic distance, lake swim triathlon within 20 minutes of Monticello, the home of Thomas Jefferson, in the Charlottesville, Virginia area.
