The Miami-based team behind the 2575 race series has confirmed a new series event in Cancun, Mexico, which has been scheduled for 8 July 2012. This is the second race to be announced in the 2575 Series for 2012, with the season starter taking place in Miami on 11 March.
After an inaugural race at the unique Marine Stadium in Key Biscayne, Series Director Wilber Anderson at Miami Tri Events is confident about the development of the 2575 Series concept. “We chose Miami as the starting point for the 2575 Series because this city is an international gateway; perfect for launching this unique concept to a global audience.”
With athletes originating from over 15 states and 5 countries, the inaugural 2575 race in December proved to be a much needed getaway from the winter weather as well as a strong start for the series. As the race organisers point out, the 2575 Cancun race now officially makes the 2575 Series an international event.
This race will take place at the Puerto Morelos town square, where athletes will enjoy ‘a beautiful fast and flat course.’ In their spare time, travelling triathletes can visit the second largest reef in the world with some of the clearest crystalline waters or take a 20 minute drive to downtown Cancun and explore all that it has to offer.
The team at Miami Tri Events continues its work securing dates and locations for other 2575 Series events. The series is expected to have 6 to 7 events in 2012. Anderson added “The concept is geared towards bringing benefits to all parties involved by combining efforts and mutually supporting one another. Now it is just a matter of arranging details with our new race directors and ensuring we bring only the highest quality races to our athletes.”
