Vitacost.com becomes official Nutritional Supplement Retailer of Ironman

Vitacost.com Inc, a leading online retailer and direct marketer of health and wellness products, has been named the 2012 ‘Official Nutritional Supplement Online Retailer of Ironman’ for all US Ironman qualifying events, including the Ironman World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, and the inaugural Ironman Mont-Tremblant in Quebec, Canada.

The designation as preferred nutritional supplement retailer is the result of a one-year partnership agreement with World Triathlon Corporation (WTC), owners of the Ironman brand.

Vitacost.com provides discounted prices on a wide array of healthy living products including its core vitamins, minerals, herbs and supplements. In addition, the company has been focusing on faster growing categories such as sports nutrition, making US Ironman events an excellent platform to showcase its expanded product offerings.

Throughout the partnership, Vitacost.com will have a presence at Ironman events by ‘specifically offering athletes the best branded products that deliver superior performance results, including the company’s own proprietary brands.’

“We are excited to partner with WTC and sponsor one of the world’s most challenging and thrilling athletic events,” said David Zucker, Chief Marketing Officer of Vitacost.com. “The Ironman triathlon is a terrific fit for the Vitacost brand, as our site features a wide range of affordable health and wellness products to meet the needs of all types of customers – from the weekend warrior to the Ironman.”

Vitacost.com offers a wide array of sports nutrition and body-building products, including top-selling Vitacost Whey Protein Complex powder to promote optimal performance during exercise and Vitacost D-Ribose Bioenergy Ribose, which helps naturally restore the body’s energy levels post workout. The company has recently launched Vitacost Branch Chain Amino Acids with Glutamine and Vitamin C, which also helps to promote muscle recovery and reduce muscle soreness after intense exercise.

The company is launching new Vitacost Mega Salt sodium electrolyte complex supplements in February 2012, which are consumed by athletes during intense exercise to replace sodium loss due to sweating.

“We are pleased to partner with an industry leader like Vitacost.com,” said Andrew Messick, Chief Executive Officer of WTC. “The Ironman lifestyle requires special attention to diet, training and racing-related needs, and Vitacost.com provides quality health and wellness products that will help our athletes reach their personal fitness goals.”
