Nike gets a feel for the water as Ironman 70.3 Miami sponsor

Miami Tri Events, the organizing team at City Bikes Ironman 70.3 Miami, has confirmed the event’s newest sponsor. Nike will become the official swim gear of the 2012 City Bikes 70.3 Miami event and sponsor of the swim course.

City Bikes Ironman 70.3 Miami will take place on 28 October 2012 at Bayfront Park in downtown Miami.

In the sporting world, Nike is synonymous for innovative thinking and excellence. According to the company, that legacy carries through to its new line of triathlon apparel. Designed for increased range of motion, fluid aerodynamics and superior comfort, Nike Triathlon Clothing is positioned as ‘the only choice for a champion level competitive advantage.’

City Bikes Ironman 70.3 Miami is very much an international event, with athletes from over 58 countries around the world in attendance. The race is also one of the largest in the United States, offering 3,000 slots, and was sold out last year.

Miami’s warm climate and range of activities allows athletes and their families to use the race as an excuse to visit and indulge in all the city has to offer, simultaneously stimulating the local economy. As the event team points out, this unique event is highly anticipated, with registrations close to being sold out.

Regarding the new deal with Nike, Miami Tri Events CEO Wilber Anderson said, “We are glad to see the City Bikes Ironman 70.3 Miami team continue to grow. The addition of a brand such as Nike demonstrates the increasing corporate support of the sport of triathlon.”
