Organised by Team Forhans’ Gianluca Calfapietra, on Saturday 3 March, the ninth edition of the Forhans Cup duathlon and triathlon race series gets under way. As has been a tradition in previous years, in 2012 the first stage of the series will be hosted by the City of Formello. Here, athletes from the regions of central Italy will take part in a technical sprint duathlon (4K run – 13K bike – 2K run).
“This year we changed the date,” noted race organizer Calfapietra. “The duathlon in the early afternoon of Saturday 3 March (the race will start at 14.45 CET) will avoid a clash with the cross-country race of the Valle del Sorbo. Another new feature is represented by the latest in electronic chip timing, enabling a number of splits during each of the run-bike-run stages.”
Kick starting the Forhans Cup for 2012, the Formello Duathlon is one of the first races in the central Italian regional calendar. The Forhans Cup itself has built momentum in recent years and is increasingly important in helping to spread the word about multisport in Italy.
