Getting a boost from BASE Amino

Sports nutrition brand BASE Performance has cited a recent study conducted by the European Journal of Applied Physiology, which measured amino acid levels in endurance athletes during ultra-endurance exercise and post recovery. Meanwhile, coaching and nutrition specialist Charlie Poliquin of Poliquin Performance has summarized the findings in his blog post, Take BCAAs When Endurance Training To Minimize Muscle Loss And Pain.

According to BASE Performance, ‘the study supports what we’ve known and why we developed BASE Amino. The study showed that BCAAs (branch-chain amino acids) were depleted in the athletes… and athletes suffered severe muscle protein breakdown during exercise.’

The company continued, ‘In Charlie Poliquin’s view, shared by us, the take away from this study is the awareness that intense endurance exercise, even at shorter lengths, will produce significant muscle degradation and soreness that can be prevented by supplementing with BCAAs during training. Researchers point to the benefit of ‘simultaneous nutritional support’ with a much greater protein ratio and the addition of BCAAs to enhance recovery.’
