HITS Triathlon Series – Ocala marked the third race of the 2012 series with six race weekends remaining before the HITS Championship, scheduled for 1-2 December 2012 in Palm Springs, California. Each HITS event weekend features Open, Sprint, Olympic, Half and Full races, welcoming a broad spectrum of athletes.
“With a few races behind us, we are even more encouraged about the direction the series is headed in,” said Mark Wilson, HITS Race Director. “We strive to present a product that we can be proud of and appreciate the athletes who are helping us to grow the series. It is exciting to see each of our races get better and better.”
Looking for an early season race, over 500 athletes were in attendance at the HITS Triathlon Ocala event on 24-25 March. The event spanned five distances over a single weekend in the rolling hills of central Florida. First-time triathletes conquered their first races on the same courses where elite athletes raced for wins and experienced racers tested their early-season training.
The organisers note the phenomenal support from the city of Ocala, Marion County and the staff at Carney Island Park. Two days of racing was enjoyed by athletes, spectators and locals alike. HITS Triathlon Series will return to Ocala, Florida on 23-24 March 2013.
Next month, HITS Triathlon Series returns to California to offer ‘a distance for everyone!’ in Napa Valley on 14-15 April. Napa Valley will present qualifying opportunities across all distances for the HITS Athlete of the Year Awards, which will be announced at the HITS Championship. After Napa Valley, HITS Triathlon Series will travel to Texas for an event in Marble Falls on 28-29 April.
