Apparel and wetsuit specialist TYR Sport Inc is excited to partner with USA Triathlon (USAT) to unveil the US Olympic Team uniform at the ITU World Triathlon San Diego Media Event today, Thursday 29 March. The Olympic uniform, designed by TYR, is made with Carbon Technology, which ‘optimizes the function of the athlete’s body by lowering body temperature, promoting more efficient breathing, slowing the heart rate, and reducing lactic acid concentrations.’
On display at the event will be three of the USA Olympic uniforms – TYR’s Female Carbon Swimsuit, the Male Carbon Zipper Back Short John, and the Female Carbon Aeroback Short John, all designed with an American ‘Stars and Stripes’ engineered print. The benefits of TYR’s Carbon Technology include ‘a supernaturally fast drying fitted compression fabric, with absolutely no inside stitching, and exceptionally strong flat-lock seams.’
In addition, the tensile strength of TYR Carbon results in ‘a soft paper-thin material with extraordinary fit and comfort.’ Triathletes testing Carbon have reported feeling faster and more comfortable throughout their races. According to TYR, ‘It’s a game-changing tool for triathletes who want to perform at their peak.’
“TYR is proud to be the official apparel sponsor for USA Triathlon, and it is extremely rewarding to be able to design their Olympic uniform,” said Ryan Dolan, TYR’s Director of Triathlon Sales and Promotions.
“As an American company started by an Olympic athlete, TYR understands the need for cutting-edge technology to compete and win at the highest level. TYR Carbon is an elite fabric that has helped triathletes become champions.”
Elite athletes such as TYR’s Matt Chrabot and Sarah Haskins will wear the uniform at the ITU World Triathlon series event in May, where they will look to qualify for the London Olympic Games. Four-time Ironman World Champion and Ironman World Record Holder Chrissie Wellington, 2011 Toyota Cup Champion Andy Potts, and Ironman Champion TJ Tollakson all race and win in TYR Carbon Technology.
