TriColumbia, the Mid-Atlantic’s premier endurance event production company, has unveiled the inaugural Iron Girl Triple Crown Series for the 2013 race season. Female endurance athletes have the unique opportunity to challenge themselves to participate in three Iron Girl events in Maryland to earn the title of ‘Iron Girl Triple Crown Finisher’.
Athleta Iron Girl Columbia Half Marathon
The Triple Crown includes the Athleta Iron Girl Columbia Half Marathon, Athleta Iron Girl Columbia Triathlon and Iron Girl Rocky Gap Triathlon.
The series kicks off with the second annual Athleta Iron Girl Columbia Half Marathon on Sunday 28 April 2013 in Downtown Columbia, Maryland. The event benefits the Claudia Mayer Cancer Resource Center – Howard County General Hospital’s leading resource to assist those living and coping with cancer.
Registration is now open and fees are US$85 prior to 1 January 2013. After 1 January, registration is US$90.
Athleta Iron Girl Columbia Triathlon
The Athleta Iron Girl Columbia Triathlon is the second event in the Triple Crown Series, held on Sunday 18 August 2013. The triathlon consists of a 0.62 mile swim, 17.5 mile bike and 3.3 mile run at Centennial Lake Park in Columbia, on portions of the famed Columbia Triathlon. In its 8th year, the Iron Girl Columbia Triathlon is the largest event of its kind in the US and has been named ‘The Best Women’s Event in the Mid-Atlantic’ by Competitor Magazine.
Registration opens on Monday 12 November 2012 at 09:00 ET and is US$140 for USAT members, US$152 for non-USAT, US$130 for USAT Military and US$142 for non-USAT Military.
Iron Girl Rocky Gap Triathlon
The third and final event of the Iron Girl Triple Crown Series is the second annual Iron Girl Rocky Gap Triathlon on Sunday 8 September 2013 at Rocky Gap Sate Park in Flintstone, Maryland. The triathlon consists of a 0.5 mile swim in the pristine Lake Habeeb, followed by a 16 mile bike and 3 mile run throughout the scenic park.
Registration opens in conjunction with the Athleta Iron Girl Columbia Triathlon on Monday 12 November 2012 at 09:00 for the same entry fees.

Participants must complete all three events in their entirety in order to earn the title of ‘Iron Girl Triple Crown Finisher’. Relay events do not qualify. Finishers will receive a special 2013 Iron Girl Triple Crown medal and bragging rights!
In addition, all Triple Crown Iron Girls will receive a unique Triple Crown gift mailed to them after completing the last event.
