General entry for Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas 2013 has now closed. Although, Ironman Foundation slots for the event, which takes place on 18 May 2013, are still available.
Set in The Woodlands, one of America’s first ‘master planned’ communities, Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas has quickly become a popular event on the Ironman North American circuit. Just 27 miles north of Houston, the organisers note that ‘it’s hard to believe that a race with such a beautiful bike and run course could be so close to a major city.’
The pedestrian-friendly layout of the event offers numerous parks, a beautiful downtown area and a number of hotels making it a great event for athletes and their families.
Athletes begin their day with a 2.4-mile swim in Lake Woodlands. Next is a 112-mile bike course that will take participants west through the scenic, rolling farmland of east Texas. The day ends with a 26.2 mile run course entirely within The Woodlands that concludes with a spectacular finish on Waterway Ave.
Ironman Texas 2013 offers 50 qualifying slots for the Ironman World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, in October 2013.
