Eugene, Oregon, based wheel specialist Rolf Prima has hailed the recent achievements of sponsored triathlete Tyler Butterfield. After another impressive showing at this past weekend’s ITU WTS Madrid event in Spain, Tyler Butterfield has qualified to represent his home country, Bermuda, for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games. Butterfield cemented his slot after a strong finish with an overall time of 1:55.40.
Butterfield currently races on Rolf Prima TdF60SLs and trains on Rolf Prima Echelons.
“While I was fairly confident I would get the job done, you never know until you reach the finish line and the final rankings are confirmed,” said Butterfield. “And although I had anticipated that moment, nothing quite prepares you for the emotion of being told, officially, that you’re an Olympian. It’s pretty overwhelming – and pretty wonderful. I’m honoured to represent Bermuda and I hope to use my experience from Athens, paired with a solid season of training and racing, to put forth my finest performance to date.”
Butterfield will return to his home in Boulder, Colorado, and begin the final focus on training for the nine weeks of preparation for London. His potential schedule leading up to the Olympics includes racing the Philadelphia Insurance Triathlon on 24 June and potentially the Dextro Energy Triathlon Hamburg (an ITU World Triathlon Series race) on 21 July.
