For those who didn’t manage to get tickets to the Olympics fear not! UK multisport coaching firm Tri Dynamic has just announced an exciting new UK event with ‘Aussie Super Coach’ Darren Smith who will have a record six athletes from his current squad competing in the triathlon at the London Olympics.
The events will take place at Hampton Outdoor Pool and St Mary’s University College, Twickenham just a few days after the Olympic Triathlon events. For those aspiring Age Group triathletes, this is a unique opportunity to spend a day receiving coaching and analysis from one of the top triathlon coaches in the world.
This once in a lifetime opportunity in August will enable athletes to spend a day being treated like one of the pro triathletes in Darren’s famous ‘D squad’. This impressive athlete roster includes ITU superstars ready to take on the London 2012 Olympics: Lisa Norden (SWE), Sarah Groff (USA), Anne Haug (GER), Kate Roberts (RSA), Vicky Holland (recently confirmed GB Olympic Tri Team member) and Andreas Giglmayr (AUT).
Smith also coaches Bart Aernouts (who recently came second at Ironman Switzerland 70.3 and debuted in 8.18 at IM Melbourne in April).
Darren Smith splits his time between Davos, Switzerland, Canberra, Australia, and Sedona, Arizona with his squad who have racked up ITU podiums all over the world. The Tri Dynamic coaching event is perfect for motivated individuals who value learning from the best to improve their triathlon performance.
There will be 2 x 1 day clinics to choose from; each day will be strictly limited to 10 places to ensure athletes receive a high level of individual coaching and advice from world class coach Darren Smith. The events will take place on Saturday 11 August and Sunday 12 August just a few days after the drama of the women’s Olympic Triathlon on the 4th and the men’s event on 7 August.
There will be a dual focus each day, with Smith concentrating on swim and run skills with classroom, practical and video analysis components. Darren Smith is well known for taking in relative non swimmers and turning them into front pack athletes, as was the case with Swedish Olympian and 2010 World Sprint Champion Lisa Norden, who last season won the prestigious Hy-Vee Triathlon Des Moines, Los Angeles Triathlon and the Toyota US Open Dallas Triathlon.
The swim component of the clinic will be based at Hampton Pool’s outdoor 36m heated pool with classroom sessions and video analysis taking place in the poolside studio. The run component will take place at nearby St Mary’s University College in Twickenham utilising the athletics track where several Team GB stars including Mo Farah have trained. There will also be a classroom session to go over the videos and then back on to the track to apply new techniques.
Each participating athlete will receive pre and post-event reading materials and preparation work from Smith to enable them to hit the ground running and to get the most out of the day’s coaching. After the event, athletes will be sent all videos from the day.
There are only 10 spaces available for each day, so early booking is recommended.
