Vellum Cycles rides on in Cebu, Philippines

Ahead of XTERRA and Ironman events landing in the Cebu province of the Philippines in 2012, three triathletes are getting into gear with local bike brand Vellum Cycles. With a base in Mandaue City, Cebu, triathlete Cris Aldeguer, architect Michael Flores and Australian tri coach Dan Brown saw Vellum officially launched in Cebu earlier this month.

The brand has already secured listings at local bike stores in the province and has expanded into Japan with a local dealer in Tokyo.

Vellum Cycles originally started operations in 2004 with its aim and objective of offering high quality road and tri bike frames, components and accessories for both professional and amateur use. With offices located in Sacramento, California and in Cebu, Vellum Cycles is ‘committed in serving both the US and Asia market with Europe as its future network in the cycling industry.’

Commenting on the brand’s launch in the Philippines, Vellum’s Aldeguer said, “We are here to answer the demands of triathletes who wanted to be very competitive in their respective races; and we brought it here in Cebu because Ironman and the XTERRA will be here.”

The 2012 XTERRA Philippines Championship remains open for registration and is set for 18 March in Cebu. The Cobra Energy Drink Ironman 70.3 Philippines takes place in Cebu on 5 August 2012. Registration for this event will end on 31 May 2012 and may close earlier when total slots are sold out.
