XTERRA Greece

The inaugural XTERRA Greece will take place at Lake Plastira on 15 June 2013. The picturesque Lake Plastira is located in the Prefecture of Karditsa and has been named after Nikolaos Plastiras, a former Prime Minister of Greece.

Registration for XTERRA Greece will open on 5 November 2012.

XTERRA Greece is offering 37 qualifying slots for the World Championship in Maui, Hawaii, to all age group categories and a prize purse of US$15000 for the top finishers.

The race venue is situated 30km west of Karditsa town. It is 340km from Athens and 230 km from Thessaloniki.

The picturesque Lake Plastira in the Agrafa Mountains has brought prestige not only to the Karditsa region but to all of Greece. Villages such as Mesenikolas, Morfovouni, Kerasia, Kalyvia Pezoula, Neraida, Belokomitis, Kastania, Lambero and others surrounding the lake, are enchanting because of the splendid views and the backdrop of woods that span the popular tourism destination.
