The 2014 USA Triathlon (USAT) Age Group National Championships will return to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on 9-10 August 2014. USAT notes that participation in the event has more than doubled since 2010.
The 2013 event, also held in Milwaukee near Discovery World and the Milwaukee Art Museum, drew a record field of more than 4,000 competitors from all 50 US states, ranging in age from 15 to 89.
“Milwaukee proved to be an excellent host in 2013 and the support from the city, as well as key organizations and individuals, helped make the event memorable for nation’s top amateur triathletes,” said Rob Urbach, USA Triathlon’s Chief Executive Officer. “We look forward to continuing this relationship to provide an even more exceptional race experience in August 2014.”

“With picturesque Lake Michigan as a backdrop for the race and the support of a strong local triathlete community, the stage was set for an event, which received rave reviews from all involved.
The Olympic-distance race, scheduled for 9 August 2014, features a 1,500m swim, 40K bike and 10K run, while the Sprint race on 10 August is comprised of a 750m swim, 20K bike and 5K run. Both races showcase the US nation’s top age-group fields and serve as qualifiers for Team USA, the select group of amateur triathletes who represent the US at International Triathlon Union (ITU) World Championship events.
The 2014 Age Group Nationals in Milwaukee will serve as the sole event qualifier for Team USA for the 2015 ITU World Championships, which will be held in Chicago, Illinois.
Registration for Sprint Nationals is now open. Athletes who have qualified for Olympic-Distance Nationals between 10 July and 15 September 2013, will receive an email with registration instructions. Additional qualifying emails will be sent as athletes qualify through to 2 August 2014.
