Bearing down on Kona! Ironman World Champ Leanda Cave rides with CeramicSpeed

Accessories and bearings specialist CeramicSpeed has confirmed a sponsorship deal with pro triathlete Leanda Cave, the 2012 Ironman World Champion in both the full and half Ironman distance.

The deal with the reigning women’s Ironman and Ironman 70.3 World Champion follows a recently confirmed sponsorship with pro triathlete Tyler Butterfield. Effective immediately, Leanda Cave has signed the agreement with Danish-based company CeramicSpeed, which is recognized for producing ceramic bearings ‘with the longest longevity and lowest friction at the market.’

Hailing from Wales, the 35-year-old IM World Champion will defend her world title in Kona, Hawai’i, on Saturday 12 October using components from CeramicSpeed during the bike leg. She will be equipped with bottom bracket, bearings and pulley wheel from CeramicSpeed as she takes on the iconic event in Kona.

“It is always flattering to be approached by a 4-time world champion, who would like to make use of our products and believe that it can help her to perform even better,” said Martin Banke, Managing Director at CeramicSpeed.

He continued, “It makes us proud and it is a tremendous recognition of the quality of our product. This sponsorship is an expression of CeramicSpeed constantly becoming more and more recognized and coveted among the absolute top athletes.”

Leanda Cave reportedly took the initiative and approached CeramicSpeed regarding a sponsorship, which lasts for the rest of 2013 and throughout the 2014 season. CeramicSpeed components have already been shipped and installed on Leanda’s Canyon bike so that she is ready to face the harsh elements on Hawaii.

“I am very excited to partner with CeramicSpeed,” said Leanda Cave. “In order to train and race at the highest level it is crucial to have the best equipment at my disposal. CeramicSpeed products give me the confidence of knowing I am on the very best bearings on the market.

“In an Ironman, every little advantage helps and less friction can help save watts on the bike. To me, this equates to free speed or saving energy for the run.”
