Creating a nutritious energy bar using creamy cashew butter and refreshing shredded coconut has helped to conjure up ‘tropical locations and exotic adventures in the minds of the athletes and customers’ involved with Bonk Breaker’s latest product development.
The company’s 11th energy bar flavour, Coconut Cashew, is baked fresh; and is gluten-, dairy- and soy-free, as with all Bonk Breaker products. It will be available to consumers beginning next month at major US retail outlets and online.
“We wanted our 11th energy bar to be unique in every way,” said Jason Winn, Founder and Co-CEO of Bonk Breaker. “Combining two of our favourite and most requested flavours has resulted in a bar that has incredible flavour, moistness and nutritional balance. Bonk Breaker athletes and customers have already told us it’s an instant favourite.”
Bonk Breaker is the official energy bar of the US Ironman triathlon series and USA Cycling.
Coconut Cashew is positioned as a perfect addition to the flourishing Bonk Breaker line of nutrition bars, which provide ‘Real Fuel, Real Food and Real Flavor’. Bonk Breaker Chairman and Co-CEO Chris Frank said, “Most of our flavour ideas come directly from our athletes and customers, and a coconut bar has been at the top of the list for the last year. The bar seems to evoke an emotional response from its aromas and subtle coconut flavour.
“We absolutely love the result and are excited about introducing Coconut Cashew into the marketplace.”
Highly nutritious and rich in fibre, vitamins and minerals, coconut is considered ‘a complete food that provides health benefits beyond its nutritional content.’ A versatile and indispensable fruit since ancient times, especially in island cultures, coconut is an excellent source of minerals including copper, calcium, iron, manganese, magnesium and zinc along with an abundance of B-complex vitamins.
Native to Brazil and regarded as a delicacy there and in the Caribbean, cashews are sweet and crunchy with lower fat content than most other nuts. Cashews are considered a heart-healthy nut because 75% of the fat content is unsaturated fatty acids – with 75% of this unsaturated fatty acid content being oleic acid, the same monounsaturated fat found in olive oil that promotes good cardiovascular health by reducing triglyceride levels, even in individuals with diabetes.
