Lucky age group triathletes travelled from all over the UK and Europe to attend the latest Tri Dynamic Master Class with Elite Coach Darren Smith. The high focus one day coaching event in London was aimed at improving both run and swim technique. It took place at St Mary’s University College Twickenham, where Mo Farah trained and at Hampton Pool’s beautiful outdoor 36m pool.
Participants benefitted from spending a whole day being coached by one of the most successful triathlon coaches in the world. For the last 10 years Darren Smith has master-minded the success of his Dsquad athletes culminating in 2013 with Aileen Reid, Emma Moffatt and Jodie Stimpson placing an impressive second, third and fourth at the 2013 PruHealth World Triathlon Grand Final.
He also helped steer GB triathlete Jodie Stimpson to her best ever season to date – winning in Kitzbühel and taking second in the ITU World Triathlon Series overall ranking.
Throughout the Darren Smith coaching day in London the motivated age group athletes learned how ‘Coach Daz’ guides his world class Dsquad athletes with both theory and practical sessions. The swimming and running sessions included video work under the watchful eye of Darren Smith.
He also went through extremely helpful strength and conditioning exercises that the Dsquad use to stay fit, healthy, and ‘bulletproof’. By the end of the day’s event some big improvements had been made and the athletes went away armed with new skills and feedback from Darren Smith to enable them to continue practicing over the winter season and come out next season stronger, fitter and faster athletes.
Commenting on the day, Darren Smith said “I always enjoy helping our age group athletes on these Tri Dynamic events. It is a lot of fun and we have seen some impressive adaptations and improvements in a short time frame.”
Tri Dynamic will be continuing to offer ‘some truly original and unique events in conjunction with Darren Smith.’ Further details to follow as they become available.
