De Soto Sport, a long-established triathlon clothing and wetsuit brand, has in recent days unveiled its distribution strategy for 2014. In a release the company notes that ‘De Soto Sport does not, and will not, sell directly through Amazon.com nor other non-traditional outlets in their continued support of independently-owned retailers, unlike its competitors.’
“Our commitment is to the independent retailer, whether they are brick and mortar, online, or both,” said founder Emilio De Soto II. “This strategy is not new for us, it has been in place for many years. It is more newsworthy than ever before.”
He continued, “We understand small business and we are here to support it with unique products made in America distributed through a solid marketing strategy. Our dealers can rely on us as a strong profit centre and consistent partner.”
De Soto Sport continues its commitment to the local triathlon, multisport, run and bicycle retailer by offering unique opportunities such as a ‘Sell-Through Satisfaction Guarantee’ that ensures retailers maintain full margins and single piece minimum re-orders at full margins to maintain inventory levels.
Founded in 1990, De Soto Sport Triathlon Company offers up the well-established De Soto brand of multisport clothing, wetsuits and accessories for triathletes worldwide. The company has received a number of awards throughout its 25-year tenure including founder, Emilio De Soto being recognized by Inside Triathlon in 2007 as one of the top three most influential innovators in the sport; and in 2011 De Soto Sport was named one of the innovative apparel companies by Apparel.
In 2012, the company’s two-piece T1 Wetsuit became made of GreenGoma, as ‘the first multisport wetsuit to use a limestone derivative rubber.’ Led by husband and wife team, Emilio & Tracy De Soto, the company is ‘fuelled by their combined experience, passion and love of triathlon, driving innovative products, respect to small businesses and attention to both serious and novice triathletes alike.’
