The 2013 Events DC Nation’s Triathlon To Benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has attracted an international field of participants. The organisers note that triathletes have registered from 16 countries including: Argentina, Australia, Canada, Colombia, France, Germany, Great Britain, Israel, Lebanon, Mexico, the Netherlands, Panama, Peru, Scotland, Spain and Sweden; plus 45 US states and the District of Columbia.
The race on Sunday 8 September 2013 is currently 93% sold out, with registration still available online at NationsTri.com.
Recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as America’s most popular triathlon event, the Events DC Nation’s Triathlon is managed by San Diego-based Competitor Group Inc (CGI), the leading active lifestyle sports media and event entertainment company, and Events DC, the official convention and sports authority for the District of Columbia.
The Events DC Nation’s Triathlon is the only triathlon in the US to benefit research for curing blood cancers. Through the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team In Training program, participants have raised more than US$12 million for blood cancer research and patient service programs.
“This year’s event features one of the largest international fields we have ever hosted,” said Molly Quinn, Vice-President of Triathlon Events at CGI. “Our new title partnership with Events DC and our airline partnership with Etihad Airways are helping us attract triathletes from around the world to our premiere multisport event here in the US.”
The prestigious event is renowned for a scenic course that winds through the National Mall and Memorial Parks. The triathlon includes a 1.5K swim in the Potomac River and 40K bike course through the streets of Washington, before finishing with a 10K run through Washington DC’s historical landmarks with a spectacular finish south of the FDR Memorial.
