A high-level political visitor has announced her attendance at the 2013 Eurobike international bicycle trade show in Friedrichshafen, Germany. On Wednesday 28 August 2013, German Chancellor Angela Merkel will attend the opening day of Eurobike.
Germany’s Federal Chancellery has announced that the Chancellor will take about two hours to officially open Eurobike and get to know the latest trends and innovations from around the biking world during a tour of the show.
Mobility on two wheels, E-Bikes and city bikes are, after all, an important political topic. “We are very pleased that the Chancellor is coming to Friedrichshafen for Eurobike. This puts the topic of cycling and mobility in the centre of the political and media spotlight,” said the enthusiastic Klaus Wellman, CEO of Messe Friedrichshafen, Siegfried Neuberger, ZIV Managing Director, and Eurobike project leader Stefan Reisinger.
The presence of Merkel at the show will increase the image, acceptance and profile of cycling. Preparations for the Chancellor’s visit are already well underway and are being jointly coordinated by Messe Friedrichshafen and the Zweirad-Industrie-Verband (ZIV), the German bicycle industry association.
From 28-31 August 2013, the market players in the cycling industry will come from around the globe to meet at Lake Constance in Friedrichshafen. New innovations and trends will be the focus of the show. More than 1,200 exhibitors, 40,000 industry visitors from over 100 countries, 20,000 consumers interested in cycling and just over 2,000 journalists are expected to attend.
Eurobike is open on its first three days to industry visitors. On Sunday 31 August, the show will open its gates to all bike fans.
In addition to Demo Day, the Eurobike Award shines a spotlight on the most innovative products. The fashion show, test obstacle course, Travel Talk and Holiday on Bike are standard features of the show. This year, the Austrian state of Tyrol will present itself as a cycling destination and tourism partner of Eurobike for the first time.
The Eurobike international cycling trade show will be open to industry visitors only from Wednesday, 28 August, to Friday 30 August 30 08:30 to 18:30 CET. It is open to the general public from 09:00 to 18:00 on Saturday 31 August. The Eurobike Demo Day will take place on Tuesday 27 August, from 10:00 to 17:00 in the Allgäu town of Argenbühl.
