Setting pulses racing… new Swimovate PoolMateHR

Swimovate, the specialist developer of automatic lap counting watches for swimmers, has launched the PoolMateHR, billed as ‘the most advanced swimming computer yet’. The PoolMateHR offers swimmers comprehensive details of the effectiveness of their workout, including number of laps swum, distance, speed, efficiency index, and the number of calories burned.

Now, with the addition of heart rate data, according to Swimovate, the athlete simply presses ‘start’ and swim; the PoolMateHR will do the rest.

Swimovate notes that many heart rate monitors don’t work under water. The PoolMateHR has been specially designed for swimmers so it will transmit in the pool. Swimmers can view heart rate during their swim and download all the information afterwards for further analysis. A vibrating alarm gives swimmers feedback. By gently shaking the wrist after a set number of laps or time interval, swimmers don’t even need to look at the screen to track progress.

Lisa Irlam, CEO of Swimovate said “After listening to feedback from our customers we have developed the ultimate swimmers training tool. Athletes of all levels are used to training by heart rate but there were very few solutions available for swimmers. We are pleased to launch the first swim-specific heart rate monitor.”

She continued, “Combined with our lap and stroke counting technology it gives the swimmer all the information they need about their swim and the vibrating alarm is a really great feature to give you feedback as you go.”

Billed as ‘the only heart rate enabled swimming watch available’, as noted by Swimovate, most heart rate monitors are 2.4GHz and don’t transmit under water – the PoolMateHR works at 122KHz which will.

Key features:

  • Heart rate that works under water (chest belt)
  • Vibrating in pool alarm
  • Lap by lap data
  • Downloadable and rechargeable
  • Analysis software
  • Sapphire crystal glass and ceramic dial to make it tough but stylish
  • Large and bright display makes it easy to read in the pool

The PoolMateHR has an RRP of £160, although Swimovate has e a £40 discount for existing PoolMate customers; they just need to email the company for details.

The PoolMateHR combines a sapphire crystal glass face with a ceramic bezel to make a tough, scratch resistant but stylish watch. Fully downloadable and rechargeable, it comes with a chest belt for heart rate sensing, USB download and charging pod, cable and software (Mac and PC).

Swimovate’s software provides lap by lap analysis of every session including laps, strokes, distance, speed, calories, stroke rate, stroke length, efficiency, and continuous heart rate data. It can also be used out of the pool too as a standard heart rate monitor or sports watch.
