Pearl Izumi – the Shimano owned leading manufacturer of run, ride and triathlon apparel & footwear – is hosting the Fall Forty, a co-branded ride challenge with leading fitness app Strava. The new challenge encourages cyclists everywhere to ride 40 hours in three weeks beginning on 16 November and ending on 6 December 2013.
Inspired by Pearl Izumi’s mission to build apparel that allows athletes to ride 365 days a year, regardless of the weather, this challenge serves to motivate cyclists to keep training and riding hard – even as temperatures drop across the northern hemisphere.
“We are excited not only to be partnering with Strava, but looking forward to getting athletes out and crushing miles, regardless of the weather,” said Geoff Shaffer, VP of Global Brand Marketing. “Much like Pearl Izumi on the apparel and footwear side, Strava understands the needs of athletes and has built a product that inspires cyclists to get out there every day and give it their best.”
Fall Forty registration is now live on the Strava app and website – allowing Strava users a chance to sign up for the challenge before the official contest kicks-off. Riders that complete the challenge will earn a digital badge that appears on their Strava dashboard, along with Strava’s customary bragging rights.
