HITS Lake Havasu City returns as ‘best kept secret in the triathlon world’

Voted as one of Active.com’s ‘Triathlons to do in 2013’ and nominated for a 2012 Reader’s Choice Award by Travlete.com, HITS Lake Havasu City in Arizona will make its return to the 2013 HITS Triathlon Series schedule on 9-10 November 2013.

HITS Lake Havasu City debuted as part of the HITS series last November and offered five distances to triathletes from the south west US and beyond. The HITS Lake Havasu City venue at London Bridge Beach boasts a pristine open water swim, a challenging bike course and a run that includes trips across the historic and picturesque London Bridge.

“I think we will see this race grow significantly over the next few years – the setting is perfect and I am surprised that more triathlons haven’t found a home here,” said Paul Amey. British pro triathlete Amey swam, biked and ran his way to victory in the Half and Olympic distance races at the 2012 HITS Lake Havasu City event.

“This location has the potential to be a training ground for the next greats of the sport,” said HITS Race Director Mark H Wilson. “Between affordable travel, convenient lodging and top-notch winter racing opportunities, Lake Havasu City has found a home as part of the HITS Triathlon Series schedule.”

“This course offered such variety and every piece was so much fun,” added Half distance female winner Ashley Paulson of Orem, Utah.

In 2013, HITS will again offer five distances – Open, Sprint, Olympic, Half and Full – in Lake Havasu City and registration is currently open. Due to the increasingly popular 2013 HITS pricing structure, which was unveiled last summer, it is expected that several of the five offered distances will sell out before race day. As an incentive for early registration, all athletes who complete their registration by 5 July 2013 will receive 75% off the regular registration fee.

Registration rates prior to 5 July 2013 are as follows:

  • Open Individual Registration Fee: US$25
  • Sprint Individual Registration Fee: US$30
  • Olympic Individual Registration Fee: US$50
  • Half Individual Registration Fee: US$75
  • Full Individual Registration Fee: US$150

The HITS Lake Havasu City race weekend will also feature a Fitness Festival, which will serve as the gathering place for participants and spectators to interact with local and national sponsors, fitness products, services, as well as event partners. Those interested in participating in the Fitness Festival can visit the race webpage, or contact Jill Trees via Jill[at]HitsTriathlonSeries.com or +1 845 246 8833.
