IMG Challenger World Triathlon Training Days aim to ‘de-fear’ triathlon

IMG – the organiser of the London Triathlon and the Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research Blenheim Palace Triathlon – is aiming to take the fear out of triathlon and converting first timers into accomplished triathletes.

The IMG Challenger World Triathlon Training Days, which will take place on 3-4 May in 2014, have successfully inspired hundreds of athletes to take part in triathlon for the first time and helped them master the fundamentals of each discipline.

In 2013, 89% of 300 participants at the Training Days were first timers and 100% went on to take part in at least one triathlon that season. According to IMG, 100% of participants also believed the sessions improved their knowledge of triathlon events and 97% of participants said they would recommend the training days to a friend.

The Training Days act as preparation for the London Triathlon and Blenheim Palace Triathlon by delivering open water swimming, cycling and running sessions as well as a seminar to offer knowledge, guidance, and support that will help participants get ready for their up and coming training programmes.

Last year’s training day’s sold out and with limited places left for 2014, participants are advised to visit www.thelondontriathlon.co.uk/training-days as soon as possible to secure a place and avoid disappointment.

For those participants seeking to convert their training into a sporting challenge in 2014, the London Triathlon is still open for entries, but participants must secure their place soon as possible as the world’s largest triathlon has sold over 75% of general entries and the current price freeze ends on 1 January 2014.

The London Triathlon 4

The London Triathlon will take place on 2-3 August 2014 offering a variety of distances to participants with Super Sprint, Sprint, Olympic and Olympic Plus waves available for general entry, as well as the option to compete as individuals or as part of a team relay. There is something to suit everyone from elite athletes trying to shave vital seconds off their personal bests, to complete novices taking on a new challenge.

Taking place at London Dockland’s Excel Centre, the London Triathlon welcomes over 13,000 triathletes of all abilities and over 30,000 spectators to join an array of celebrity competitors and a strong elite field. At the 2013 event, a team comprising of Louis Smith MBE, Nicola Adams MBE and Jade Jones MBE joined the likes of Spice Girl Melanie Chisolm, Welsh rugby star Gareth Thomas and cricket legend Mark Ramprakash to swim bike and run their way around some of the capital’s most iconic landmarks.

The Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research Blenheim Palace Triathlon has now sold out of general entries but charity pledge places are still available at www.theblenheimtriathlon.com.
