Ironman 70.3 Monterrey hits Mexico in 2014

Joining the rapidly expanding Ironman 70.3 series – Ironman 70.3 Monterrey in Mexico is being positioned as a destination event for athletes and their families. Online registration is now open for this latest IM 70.3 series race, held on 16 March 2014 in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.

The swim will take place in the beautiful Santa Lucia River, one of Monterrey’s most popular tourist destinations, and finish at the Mexican History Museum at downtown Macroplaza.

The Santa Lucia River promenade starts at the ‘Ojos de Agua de Santa Lucia’, where the city of Monterrey was founded. It connects the Macro Plaza at the Mexican History Museum all the way to the Parque Fundidora. The promenade features 10 beautiful pedestrian bridges between the corridors and 22 tranquil fountains.

The fast 56-mile bike course starts and finishes at the Macroplaza next to the Governor´s Office Building. The two-loop run course will start and finish at the Macroplaza and will trace the scenic Santa Lucia Riverwalk as well as wind through the local Fundidora Park.

More than 2,000 participants are expected for the inaugural event in 2014. Ironman 70.3 Monterrey offers a professional prize purse of US$50,000 and 40 age-group slots to the 2014 Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Mont-Tremblant, Quebec, Canada.
