Professional triathlete and licensed medical doctor Amanda Stevens has signed with Rudy Project after seeing the virtues of Rudy’s Wingspan Aero/TT helmet during wind-tunnel testing.
“When we went out to the A2 wind tunnel in North Carolina, we were purely just looking at aerodynamics for Kona conditions,” said Stevens. “I didn’t have a helmet sponsor at all, so we figured this would be a good chance to try a number of different time trial lids.”
She continued, “The Rudy Project Wingspan tested above and beyond in all areas: aerodynamics, cooling and comfort. I instantly knew that it would be the helmet of choice for the Ironman World Championships in Kona, so we reached out to Rudy Project.”
Stevens contacted Rudy Project and was immediately signed by Director of Sports Marketing, Chris Lupo.

Shortly after signing, Stevens raced Ironman Boulder 70.3 in her new Rudy Project Wingspan Aero helmet and sunglasses and shattered her previous bike split record. “At 2:17:45, it was my fastest ever,” related Stevens. “I know I’ll do well with this helmet, and I was happy the sunglasses came along with it!”
On 18 August, Stevens raced for the second time in her new Rudy gear and took second place at Ironman Timberman 70.3.
Now, she has been named as one of the top 20 female Kona Pro Racers for this year’s Ironman World Championships and is a serious threat for all her competitors.
The Wingspan Aero / TT Helmet has won numerous awards, including ‘Best Aero Helmet’ in Triathlete Magazine’s 2012 Buyer’s Guide. It’s also been the number one most worn Aero helmet for two years running at the Ironman World Championships.

Amanda Stevens is a licensed Medical Doctor and is seeking to pursue a career in sports medicine. In her spare time, she acts as a motivational speaker for Girls on the Run: a non-profit, nationwide US program educating and preparing 3rd to 8th grade girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living.
