Ironman brand owner World Triathlon Corp (WTC) is expanding further into Europe, as the 2013 GoPro Ironman World Championship Press Conference confirmed a number of new M-Dot races for 2014.
During the press conference, WTC CEO Andrew Messick provided an update on the ‘State of Ironman’, addressing topics including the explosive growth of the brand, this year’s largest and most international-ever field of athletes and new races for the coming year.
The new events include:
- Ironman 70.3 Putrajaya in Malaysia will be held on the weekend of 12-13 April 2014

Following the acquisition of YWC Sports ApS in Copenhagen by Ironman brand owner World Triathlon Corp (WTC) – the two key events run by YWC have been rebranded under the Ironman marque as KMD Ironman Copenhagen and KMD Ironman 70.3 Aarhus.

Devotees of the popular Ironman 70.3 Mallorca now have another reason to race in paradise with this new full distance event, which will be located in Alcudia, a resort hub in the northern part of the Spanish island.

Citing the increasing international feel of the M-Dot brand, at the Kona press conference Messick said that this year’s IM World Championship has the fewest number of American athletes than ever before.
