KANGA Productions has confirmed that Newton Running has signed on as the official run course and shoe sponsor for the Super Sprint Triathlon Grand Prix Las Vegas on 19 September at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
“We are pleased to support premier races that align with Newton Running’s dedication to performance and promoting the sport,” said Yo Schmidt, Director of Events for Newton Running. “Newton is the ideal run course and shoe sponsor for the Super Sprint Triathlon Grand Prix, which invites the public to experience the fun and spectacle of triathlon.”
The event, officially designated as the 2013 USA Triathlon Elite Sprint National Championships, will be televised nationally across the US by Universal Sports Network. The race format will take professional athletes through a double super sprint format, meaning each athlete will complete two continuous, non-stop circuits of the same course.
Each circuit is comprised of a 300m pool swim, 5 mile bike and 1.5 mile run. Heats will take place throughout the day, with the final rounds of competition kicking off at 17:30 PT.
This will be the first triathlon event in the US to feature a primetime evening race held under lights. The race has already attracted top Americans Cameron Dye, Ben Collins, and Olympians Jarrod Shoemaker and Gwen Jorgensen, as well as a number of the world’s most talented short course professional athletes including London 2012 Olympic bronze medallist Erin Densham (Australia) and Olympian Brendan Sexton (Australia).
Six-time Ironman Champion Luke McKenzie and Ironman 70.3 Champion Heather Jackson will also be trying their hands at the shorter course.
The Super Sprint Triathlon Grand Prix is billed as ‘the most exciting, high performance and spectator-friendly triathlon event to be introduced to the US.’ The fast action racing features a multiple lap format that puts spectators in the middle of the action while athletes push themselves to their limits.
The Super Sprint Triathlon Grand Prix is a platform for professional athletes to showcase their explosive speed, stamina and bike handling skills on technical courses while giving spectators the opportunity to see some of the world’s best athletes race elbow?to?elbow in a self-contained venue.
The mission of the Super Sprint Triathlon Grand Prix is to promote the sport of triathlon to the general public, take the sport to a new level, promote professional athletes and to inspire a new generation of athletes to participate in triathlon.
