Ironman has seen a record sell out across all of its events in Europe and Ironman Wales is no exception, with just 100 general entries now remaining.
Taking place on Sunday 8 September, in Tenby, Pembrokeshire, for the third successive year, Ironman Wales offers not only one of the most challenging global ironman courses amidst a spectacular setting, but is also renowned for its incredible atmosphere.
Attracting a sell-out 1,800 competitors from across some 40 countries, this 2.4 mile sea swim, 112 mile bike and 26.2 mile run, attracts athletes of all levels of ability with many competing in this ultimate endurance event for the first time.
Kevin Stewart, Managing Director of Ironman UK said “With general entries almost full we really would urge athletes thinking of racing Ironman Wales 2013 to enter soon to secure their slot.”
Ironman Wales 2013 acts as a qualifying event for the 2014 Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii, which gives athletes the opportunity to qualify early for the Ironman World Championships and then spend over 12 months preparing for it.
2013 will also see the return of IronKids Wales, which attracts some 400 children aged 4 to 15 taking part in a swim, run event on North Beach, Tenby, on Saturday 7 September.
Ironman athletes can also combine their racing with making a significant contribution to official charities Scope or Macmillan Cancer Support. Both charities offer guaranteed entries with an initial £99 to pay along with a commitment to fundraise £1,000 for their great causes.
