Revving up with new Rev3 pro race series

Revolution3 Triathlon (Rev3) is aiming to revolutionize the 2013 triathlon season with a New Pro Race Series. The Pro race series highlights three Olympic distance races throughout the 2013 season, at Knoxville, Wisconsin and Maine, along with four half-distance races, at Quassy, Williamsburg, Florida and the brand new Rev3 Branson race.

Age group athletes can expect some changes too, with the introduction of a new age group series – originally unveiled in November last year.

Points mean prizes!
In the New Pro Race Series, pros are invited to collect points at a minimum of three of the above events, with the option of gaining additional loyalty points by competing in additional races.

The Rev3 Pro Championship will be held at the 2014 Knoxville event with a blended distance race. According to the organising team, this is likely to consist of a 1 mile swim, a 35 mile bike and a 9 mile run.

Instead of a prize purse at every race, the purses will now be consolidated into the seven eligible races of the series, most totalling US$50K, with Rev3 Quassy totalling US$100K. Additionally, US$5K worth of bonuses will be awarded for the fastest split times.

Pro exposure
Pros will get even more benefits courtesy of Rev3, with additional exposure for themselves and their sponsors via full page ads in Triathlete Magazine, dedicated bib numbers and individualized posters in transition. Series Pros will also receive full page profiles on the Rev3 website, along with having their race reports published and promoted via the same venue.

Pro triathletes confirmed for the 2013 Rev3 Pro Series include: Kelly Williamson, Jesse Thomas, Richie Cunningham, Heather Jackson, Angela Naeth, Andrew Starykowicz, Meredith Kessler, Amy Marsh, Matty Reed, Eric Limkemann, Bek Keat, Nicolle Kelleher, Rebeccah Wassner, Laurel Wassner, Lauren Goss, Malaika Homo, Brandon Marsh, Jessica Jones, Becky Lavelle and Kyle Leto amongst others.

“I am extremely excited to include a number of the Rev3 Races on my schedule in 2013,” said Heather Jackson. “I’ve been so impressed with the quality of the Rev3 Quassy event over the past two years: a super challenging course but with a fun, laid-back vibe and family-friendly atmosphere.”

She added, “Rev3 Triathlon supports their athletes in so many ways beyond the race itself with things like amazing media hype leading into a race, as well as race-day coverage both online and television broadcast, which is awesome!”

Revving up with new Rev3 pro race series

The Revolution3 Triathlon race series was created to change the way athletes, family members and spectators view and participate in triathlons of all distances. One of the company’s immediate goals is to make triathlons a more interactive, enjoyable experience for spectators by providing fun activities for children and family members during the race.

According to Rev3, Revolution3 Triathlon is about change! ‘Change for the age grouper, change for the professional athlete, and change for the spectators.’
